The rest of the WINs went to Branson and I chose the Escapee Park nearby. It is in Hollister alongside Turkey Creek. What a fun place that was to kayak. The stretches of the creek where only kayaks could gain access were loaded with BIG fish that evidently had plenty to eat on their own. The scenery around Branson was magnificent .. can't say the same for the traffic.
From Hollister it was a lovely drive to Dam Site campground on Beaver Lake near Eureka Springs, AR. A day trip to Eureka Springs led to the Crescent Hotel and the view it provides. On highway 187 I crossed a most interesting suspension bridge!!!!
The spring flowers were in full bloom. Eureka Springs is a charming old town where tourists flocked in earlier years. The Crescent Hotel has been refurbished and is a real tribute to the past. The winding mountain streets now host a myriad of quaint shops. It is quite the art community these days. Eureka Springs is a wonderful little Victorian vacation spot with lots of bed and breakfasts.
A view across the mountain tops to the Christ of the Ozarks statue.
