Crested Butte, Colorado - July 2002

Crested Butte is a favorite place of mine to visit. It is a typical tourist town but still small and enjoyable with an elk burger a must. And the farmer's market was a great place to load up on a supply of Colorado cherries.

The Slate River Road north of town led to some fishing creeks and beautiful scenery but after the road narrowed and got really rough again it was time to turn around and check out Gothic instead.

Gothic is a small town north of Crested Butte. It was worth the rough washboard and narrow road to visit the area. The town was full of young college aged students that attend the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory to do scientific research. They stay in the old cabins in the area.

The fields were full of wildflowers and we did find one tiny stream to fish.

Camping is hard to find but the roadside on Keblar Pass is an option!
