Canyon Lake, Tx - Oct 2003

Potter's Creek Corps of Engineer's campground on Canyon Lake near San Antonio, Texas is one of my favorite camping destinations.

The WINs stayed at a homeplace nearby and paid the same as I for a spot to park but with no view, no electricity, no shower house, etc.

PJ and Ernie came over one night to take advantage of the shower house. They stayed for apple cobbler that was cooking in the dutch oven.

One day the WINs kayaked the Guadalupe River. It was flowing nicely and was a serene adventure.

A gravel bar provided a nice place to stop for lunch.

PJ takes a rest from the sun under a giant cypress, one of my favorite features.

The 8th annual pow wow was held at Canyon Lake. Several of the WINs went over to observe.

Red Eagle led the parade in. He is especially proud of his back side.

The drum circle. This was the first powwow I ever attended. Even though it was small and indoors it had all of the same features: a drum circle, proud Indians in their native dress, dancing.
