The storytelling capital of Texas is known for its annual Story Fest each November. The town was a land venture and ranching enterprise of George Washington West and his wife Kittie of San Antonio. He started to build the town in 1913 after having ranched the area from 1880-1912. George West sold his cattle to colonize the 75,000 acres.
Storyfest began with the chuckwagon dinner and show on Friday night. A full schedule of events filled the day on Friday. Lots of food and crafts were availabe as well.
The Crucigers were just one of several musical groups that performed. In the four performance areas set up there were also storytellers and cowboy poets.
Pioneer Camp was one of the special displays. They provided glimpses into the ways of the pioneers. The dutch oven cooking was a big hit with samples provided as each dish was completed.
Another display included rope making.
