Palmetto State Park is located south of Luling, Texas. This was a fine place for a Thanksgiving day hike along the San Marcos River. The stand of palmettos is isolated for this part of Texas as they are found further east.
The state park is in a peaceful setting with a tent area on one side of the river and the w/electric on the other side but the campground is quite small.
The artesian well on the left is used to pipe water across the trail to a ram pump that pumps the water into the water tower.

The park if full of Palmettos which give the park it's name.

The refectory below and all of the stone walls were built of sandstone by the CCC. It is some quite handsome stonework.

The water tower.
