Padre Island, Tx - Nov 2003

Padre Island National Seashore is a 110 mile beach, one of the longest in the world. On the grasslands where cattle once grazed and big ranches stood are now visitors looking for a bit of serenity.

The beach had quite a bit of trash that had washed in. Jellyfish were washing ashore everywhere. Not the type of beach to walk on barefoot for sure. This sand crab did not seem to mind.

The nature walk was peaceful among the dunes. The nature walk was covered with wildflowers along the highway and areas of tall grasses swayed in the gentle ocean breezes.

I was surprised that the road was so narrow alongside the ocean. As we entered the drive there were many rvs parked alongside the road. The WINs would later move down to the beach to camp but I would head north. A few of them did veer into the softer sand and get stuck. The road is not accessible without 4 wheel drive much of the way.

I was delighted to see the ocean and the white sand on Padre Island.
