Buffalo River, AR - June 2002

Mtn. View is a quaint town in the Ozarks that has finally caught up with the rest of the world. Their mountain music that plays around the town square each weekend brings droves of visitors to the community. We looked for a camping spot at the nearby Blanchard Springs campground located in the national forest but were too late to get a spot. We did take in some music on the square.

We did manage to get the last camping spots available at Buffalo Point on the Buffalo River.

What a surprise to see this flying squirrel that resided in a tree right in the middle of the campers.

The Buffalo River level was 4.5 which made it perfect for kayaking. We managed to catch a few brownies.

The Buffalo River is a national scenic river that runs through the Ozark National Forest in northern Arkansas. It is very popular with canoeists and kayakers.
